I am looking for a definition for Verrelli's painting.
"The world of Futurism seen through the eyes of Metaphysics": simple, effective, beautiful. But wrong, at least inaccurate.
I must try to be more precise: "That world of industry and modern life which in his time aroused the enthusiasm of the futurists, seen with a suspended gaze which could descend from Metaphysics". Less vague, undoubtedly, but horrible.
I try again: "The dream of reality." But what does it mean? The reality he paints is anything but dreamlike, indeed carefully observed in its fragments, but the gentle atmosphere created by the light is dreamlike.
I reflect: his precision is a sort of mathematics, mathematics is real and abstract at the same time, let's try mathematics. You could draw numbers, equations, square roots on a piece of paper, but space them apart, as if dropped into space... It would also be an original way of conceiving a presentation.
I concentrate: "Verrelli's painting is metallic and light. Its unbreakable but delicate surfaces are immersed in a sweet light to receive its caress". This time I'm satisfied.
